General Management

“Management is a unique fundamental to achieve a Success

General Management tells us how to work in a systematic way. We need management in every phase of life. It delineates some functions like planning, organizing, staffing, directing & controlling below:

* Planning: It refers to identifying the goals to be achieved.

*Organizing: It means that after planning the activities it will going to be implemented according to the plan.

*Staffing: It defines that recruiting the right person on the right place.

*Directing:  It tells that supervising the subordinates to judge their performance.

*Controlling: It states that monitoring the performance and if anyone has fallacious then it is the work of their senior to precise it.

Hence, these are the functions of management. Management is not only inside premises but apart from premises we need management in our household as well. Actually, we are encircled by administration because without it we cannot do anything.

For e.g.: In our households, our mother looks after the management so that anything cannot imbalance anyhow because without management any person cannot do their work in a methodical mode.

Consequently, management is universally available in our lives. So we cannot disregard it. These five gatherings are the most imperative that if by a little gaffe there is any one function left then it leads to a devastation of work. There are two important terms in the management by which a person can do his/her work on time & in an impeccably manner:-  Effective & Efficient

  • Effective: This term shows that a person should complete their work on time
  • Efficient: This term shows that a person should do work in an appropriate way and with the minimum cost.

Management has a dynamic nature because we can modify it according to us. I know as a person its difficult follow management to have a decent life but if we follow it then we can change our lifestyle professionally. To work in a managerial way, there are a great person named “Henri Fayol” who has made some ethics on the basis of their own experiences and practical observations. He was a Mining Engineer but after serving a lot of contributions he was synonymous by the name of a “Father of General Management”. Someone has once said that without doing work practically we can never learn and understand it in a well manner. So he has made some excellent principles of General Management.

  • Division of Work: This principles show that an organization shouldn’t impose all the pressure on one employee they should allocate or divide work among all the employees so that everyone can do work in a smooth way.
  • Authority & Responsibility: According to this principle of Henri Fayol, personnel should get Authority & Responsibility both.

For e.g.: If a Supervisor has given a responsibility to do his work then he should also give him Authority or tell him an easy way to get that work done because without authority it is difficult for a personnel to get that work done on time. Therefore, a management should give him both Authority & Responsibility.

  • Discipline: This term “Discipline” tell us that employees should preserve Decorum to have a peaceful business environment and this principle is followed in our daily life as well.
  • Unity of Command: As per this doctrine, if a senior has given a command to one employee and on the same time another senior could not give his work to that employee otherwise employee cannot do both work together. Therefore, Subordinates should give one work in one go to one employee only.
  • Unity of Direction: This principle shows that there should be a one goal of a Management so that each employee would go in one direction which makes work glibber for a management.
  • Subordination of Individual interest to General Interest: It states that personnel should always give first priority to his/her Management rather than his/her General Interest.

For e.g.:   There is a function in an employee’s house and on the same day        there is some official work and the management is calling that employee immediately then an employee should go with management instead of attending any function.

  • Remuneration of Employees: It states that Management should give remuneration according to the potentials of an employee.
  • Centralisation & Decentralisation: Centralisation means if a company is positioned at one domicile then the proprietor of the company is adequate for taking any decision whereas Decentralisation means if a corporation have many divisions at numerous places then there should be a Branch Manager at every domicile who will report to the management directly but the huge decisions will be taken by management itself.
  • Scalar Chain: According to this principle, an employee could not talk directly to the employee of another department and if there is any crisis then an employee has to take permission to the management otherwise they can talk only to their superiors so that Demureness would preserve in Management.
  • Order: This principle shows that the entire employee should uphold hygiene in the commercial environment. In other words, all the equipment’s should be kept in order or in their place.
  • Equity: It states that the management should deport with all the employees in the same way. There should not be any discernment among the personnel in any matter like religion, community, etc.
  • Stability of Personnel: It says that if a management recruits an employee then a management should provide that employee tenure of one month as nobody can magistrate performance in a week.
  • Initiative: This principle shows that management should give rewards to an employee if any personnel have given any prodigy inkling for the benefit of the enterprise.
  • Espirit de Corps: According to this principle, all the employees should work in an echelon only then an organization can progress.

Hence, as we all see above these are the brilliant principles of General Management contrived by the Henri Fayol (Father of General Management).
