1=a party reduces a vast multitude of opinions into a few basic positions wich it support .
2=parties play a decisive role in making laws in legislatures
3=a party put forward different policies and programmes and the voters choose from them.
4= in democracies elections are fought mainly among the candidate put by political parties.
1.Contest elections: in democracies,elections are contested by the political parties by putting up their candidates.
2.Put forward different policies and programmes: political parties have their own ideologies and programmes .these are put forward before the voters at the time of elections in the form of a manifesto.
3.Role in making laws for a country: lawd are passes according to the directions of the ruling party or alliance in case of a coalition government .members of political party vote in the legislature according to the decision of the party.
4.Formation of governments: party or group of parties that gets majoritu in the legislatue forms and runs the govetnment.in a parliamentary democracy, this function is so important that government is known by the name of the party i.e, conngress or BJP government etc.
5.The parties that losr elections play the role of opposition by criticising govetnment for its failure of wrong policies.
