  1. Indian Institute of Interior Design (IIID), Mumbai

IIID was established in the year 1972 and runs with an aim to promote designing education. It also represents the Interior Design Profession in India. Its centers are located in almost every part of India. The admission in this college can be taken through the membership criteria followed by the college which can either be lifetime or on an annual basis. The courses offered by Indian Institute of Interior Design are Degree in – Interior designing,  Architecture plus 1 year Post Qualification work(full- time) in interior designing.

 

  1. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay

IIT was establishes in the year 1958 and is well known for engineering courses and it also offers Interior Designing course. Out the 15 departments that it has, one is the Industrial Design Department. This department provides enough education and education in the field of designing. IIT conducts an Examination (UCEED) which is important for the students to pass to get the admission in this college. The courses offered at IIT are BDes programmes and MDes programmes (Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Vehicle Design, and Interaction Design and PhD programmes.

 

 

  1. National Institute Of Design , Ahmedabad

With its establishment in the year 1961, it’s providing a center for world- class education and research in designing. NID has its centers in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. The institute conducts a Design Aptitude Test which is mandatory to pass to get an admission in the college. The courses offered at NID Ahmedabad are Animation Film Designing, Textile Designing, Graphic Designing, Glass and ceramic Designing, Product designing, Video and film communication and the courses offered at Gandhinagar branch (PG) are Game designing, Photography Designing, Lifestyle accessory Designing, Photography Designing.

 

  1. SNDT Women’s University

SNDT University was established in the year 1916 and was named as The Indian Women’s University. In the year 1951 its name was changed to SNDT (Shreemati Nathbai Damodar Thackersey) which is now its current name. The university in all has 12 departments where each department offers education in various undergraduate, postgraduate, Diploma and PhD courses and programmes. The courses offered at SNDT Women’s University are MA (Media and communication), Interior Designing, Jewellery Designing and manufacturing.

 

10.Sir JJ School of Arts

With its establishment in the year 1878, it has become one of the well-known institutes in the field of art. It was made with the help of donation offered by Sir Jamshedji Jeejeeboy who was the first Baronet. There are various departments in the college which provide education in various field. These departments are Painting, Drawing, Modelling, Metal Work, Interior decoration, Sculpturing. Students have to pass an entrance test conducted by the school which is named as MH-AAC-CET (Maharashtra Applied Arts and Crafts Common Entrance Test) to gain admission in the university. The courses offered by this school are BFA (Metal work, Ceramics, Interior decoration, Painting, Textile designing,sculpturing), MFA (Painting in Portrait, Creative Painting, Mural, Graphics), Art Teacher Diploma, Art Master Certificate.
